My Lip Care Routine

I've always suffered with fairly dry lips. I'm lucky enough that they don't get so dry they crack but I definitely need a lip balm on my person at all times! I've found that suffering from dry lips means I experiment less with lip colours as I feel like they don't wear very well on me.

So, after getting sick of sticking with natural lip colours and wanting to try something a bit bolder I decided to look into lip treatments that might help. I've got tens of lip balms that promise long-lasting sofntess and etc etc but I needed to get touch...and so I invested in a couple of lip exfoliators and they've done the world of good!

I actually combine two products to exfoliate my lips and so far so good, I've been using this method for about three or four month now and I can really notice the difference. I'm experimenting a lot more with bolder lip colours and it's really nice to actually get to try out some of the bright colours I have in my make up drawers! Especially during this hot weather I don't really feel like wearing much on my face or eyes, so it's nice to be able to brighten up my complexion with a bright pink lip!

So, first of all I cover my lips in Lush's Mint Julips and rub my lips together for a few seconds to smooth out any rough skin, I then use the ELF Lip Exfoliator on top of the Mint Julips to really exfoliate and remove any dead skin. After wiping off any excess I slick on some Vaseline or Palmers lip butter and let that sink in before I apply any other lip products. It's worked wonders!

I do recommend both Mint Julips and ELF's Lip Exfoliator but if you're only going to go with one then make it Mint Julips - it smells and tastes incredible and it lasts for an absolute age. I've had this since March and you can see the tiny dent I've made in it!

Do any of you guys exfoliate your lips? What are your favourite products? Or do you recommend anything else to banish dry skin and keep your lips soft and moisturised?

Project Beauty Blitz

So, in just over two and a half months I'm heading off to Florida for two glorious weeks of sun, swimming and shopping. And theme parks and horrendous amounts of carbs but they didn't quite fit in with my alliteration.

Anyway.

I'm going to do a lot of shopping. A lot. Most of it, I'm sure, will be beauty-related because, hello, Sephora! Because I'm planning on buying a whole suitcase load of beauty products I definitely need to have a big clear out before I go.

Enter Project Beauty Blitz.

From now and the beginning of October I'm planning on overhauling my beauty products (make up, skin care and toiletries) and using up as many half empty bottles/products as I can. I'm also going to reorganise *everything* and donate anything I know I'm never going to use to Give and Make Up or family/friends.

I'm hoping this is going to leave me with some clear shelves and drawers ready to be restocked with all of my American goodies!

So, after clearing out a couple of drawers I've grouped together the first basket of products I need to use up or pass on to other people before I leave:

Skincare and toiletries

Make up

I'll keep you guys updated with my progress and my final statistics but over the next ten weeks I'm hoping to use up or get rid of fifty things - which leaves me space for fifty new things, right? That's how it works... right?!

I'm Back, Baby!

So, I've been MIA for a big chunk of this year! Lots of things went on at the beginning of 2013 (see this post for more details) and I've needed a big Internet break to get things back on track so I've been pretty quiet on Twitter as well.

That said, I'm feeling better than I have for a bloody long time and I'm ready to come back and blog properly again! I'm feeling excited and inspired and I've really, really missed this so I'm raring to go. I've missed #bbloggers chats and hauling and chatting to everybody on Twitter and writing reviews and generally talking about make up for hours on end. I feel like I've missed so much - who should I be following, what amazing launches have I missed? Help me out, folks!

To get the ball rolling again I wanted to share a collection of photos that sum up what I've been doing with my time over the last month or so... generally spending too much money, eating too many carbs and being a very happy chappy indeed.

I've missed you guys; I'm glad to be back!
